Sterling Mines step by step

Follow the sequence in order so route safety and puzzle inventory are handled before optional valuables.

  1. Step 1

    Recognize Sterling and secure the train

    Sterling is a named town that can appear during the route rather than at one guaranteed distance. Stop with enough fuel for departure, scan the town, and decide who watches the train. Do not let the whole squad disappear underground with unsecured loot on the cars.

  2. Step 2

    Search the church first

    Go to the church at the back of Sterling and collect the visible Jade Tablet. Also find a safe way to light Dynamite. The mine entrance is behind the church, so the church is both the first tablet stop and the landmark that points to the objective.

  3. Step 3

    Open the mine entrance

    Place Dynamite at the wooden planks blocking the entrance, move back, ignite it, and wait for the blast before approaching. Community walkthroughs show Dynamite near the mine area, but carrying your own prevents a missing or moved item from ending the route.

  4. Step 4

    Clear the first branch before carrying everything

    The mines contain hostile enemies and narrow approaches. Clear enough room to retreat before collecting tablets or valuables. Keep one inventory or Sack plan for mission items so a Jade Tablet is not lost among ordinary loot.

    Open the Strange Mask side room

    A blocked side route leads to the Strange Mask chamber and another Jade Tablet. Use the spare Dynamite when the barrier requires it. Before taking the mask, inspect the counter and pressure plate and clear the path back toward the main tunnel.

    Handle the pressure-plate trap

    Current community references report that replacing the mask's weight with another object can prevent the normal trigger. If the plate solution fails or you simply lift the mask, expect three Werewolves. Use the cleared corridor, ranged damage, speed, or healing instead of fighting while trapped against the counter.

A team that can safely manage the plate may take both, while a low-health solo player should prioritize leaving alive with progress.

After the door opens, the Jade Sword can support later combat through its reanimation effect, while the mask can turn one chosen defeated enemy into a temporary ally. Neither reward compensates for an empty furnace or an unprotected carrier.
